Police warn of skimming devices found in 7-Eleven ATMs

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — Newport News Police have recently been made aware of skimming devices being placed in the ATMs of several area 7-Eleven stores.

According to police, incidences involving skimming devices have occurred in the Newport News area, as well as other nearby localities.

Detectives are asking store employees to periodically check ATM machines against tampering. Police say that ATM machines that have not been tampered with should contain a green credit card slot.

They are also reminding anyone who suspects that an ATM machine has been tampered with to call 911.
