School bus driver pleads guilty to child porn charges

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – The case against a former Chesapeake school bus driver was in federal court in Norfolk Monday. 71-year-old Larry Homan pleaded guilty to charges of production of child pornography.

The case began this past May when a parent complained that Homan had touched her daughter inappropriately. The school system reviewed the bus surveillance footage and suspended Homan. The video reportedly showed him touching students’ chests and genitals while they sat on his lap. The alleged victims were as young as four, according to investigators.

Police then got involved and conducted a search of Homan’s Norfolk home in June, where they seized several electronic devices including a flash drive hidden in a clock. According to a statement of facts filed with the plea agreement, the devices revealed Homan was producing child pornography inside his apartment.

10 On Your Side first reported Homan’s arrest in July, after investigators in Chesapeake charged him with three counts of sexual battery against children and three counts of indecent liberties with children.

In October, he was indicted on the federal child porn charges. The Chesapeake Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office dropped the state charges so the federal case could move forward.

Homan now faces up to 30 years in prison when he is sentenced in March in U.S. District Court.
