Friends remember slain Norfolk man

NORFOLK, VA. (WAVY) – Family and friends are remembering a Norfolk man shot and killed inside his home earlier this week.

Officers found David Jackson dead on Pascal Place on Sunday.

It’s still a mystery as to who pulled the trigger, but friends are hoping that mystery is solved soon. At first the crime scene on Pascal place only looked suspicious to Norfolk police. But as investigators looked at the evidence it turned into a murder scene.

All friends heard was that police found David Jackson’s body inside the home.

“Disbelief,” Janine Ruberti, one of Jackson’s friends said. “That’s the only thing I can say is: it’s still shocking.”

Ruberti worked with David Jackson for almost a decade and over the time they became fast friends.

“He was the type of guy that would give you the shirt off his back,” she smiled. “He was genuine and down to earth. He loved life.”

Norfolk police said someone shot Jackson in the head. Then left him to die inside his home.

“He had just bought a house about five months ago,” Ruberti explained. He was so proud of it too, it was amazing.”

Norfolk Police continue to look for suspects and a motive for who killed Ruberti’s good friend. Next week friends and family will get together at his home.

“We are gonna have candles out there and we are gonna have lots of fun memories to talk about,” she said. “We want to celebrate his life and remember who he was as a man, as a son, a father, a coworker and most of all a friend to all of us.”
