Man charged in heroin sale that resulted in death

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — A Virginia Beach man was charged with distribution of heroin resulting in a death.

According to court documents, 28-year-old Gregory Hatt sold heroin, cocaine, and other narcotics to local residents out of a house he rented in Virginia Beach from December 2014 through July 2015.

In December 2014, Hatt sold heroin to 23-year-old Monica Beaudry, who later overdosed. Hatt refused to call 911, say court documents. Hatt then drove her to Chesapeake Regional Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.

Hatt continued to distribute heroin. He was arrested after a search warrant was served July 2015. He was charged with conspiracy to distribute heroin, distribution of heroin resulting in death, distribution of heroin, possession with intent to distribute heroin and cocaine, and the possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.
