Four people seriously injured after car smashes into concrete wall

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – Four people are recovering from serious injuries after their SUV smashed into a concrete wall on South Military Highway in Norfolk, according to police.

Police responded to a single vehicle accident at the intersection of Sellger Drive around 4:20 a.m. and found three people involved.

Investigators say the Ford Expedition was traveling westbound on Sellger Drive, drove through a stop sign and crashed into a concrete wall at the intersection of South Military Highway.

According to Norfolk Police, a 23-year-old man sitting in the backseat was found unconscious on the scene. Paramedics immediately rushed him to a nearby hospital where he is listed in critical condition.

The driver, a 23-year-old man, and a woman sitting in the backseat were also taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Both are expected to survive, according to Norfolk Police Department.

The fourth passenger, a 23-year-old woman, left the scene before police arrived. However, she arrived at a hospital later with minor injuries.

Traffic Fatality Investigators believe alcohol was a contributing factor in this crash.
