Boston considering raising age to buy cigarettes

BOSTON, Mass. (WWLP) – First it was Greenfield, and next came Amherst, and now Boston appears ready to make it illegal for anyone under 21 to buy a pack of cigarettes.

The Boston health department will decide Thursday if Massachusetts largest city will follow the lead of the Western Massachusetts towns.

The State legislature is considering making the age increase mandatory across Massachusetts.

22News has found that in Greenfield, smoke shops catering to a younger clientele have experienced a downtown in their cigarette sales.
