NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A Norfolk woman has been sentenced in the murder of her 1-month-old daughter.
On Friday, a judge sentenced 22-year-old Asia Foster to 35 years with all but 17 years suspended.
Foster pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, child abuse and neglect of her daughter.
According to court documents, Foster called 911 and said the child wasn’t breathing. Authorities say Foster initially told a dispatcher Yorkie and Chihuahua puppies had injured the child.
The baby was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead on October 12, 2013.
Authorities say she had 14 facial bruises, two skull fractures, retinal and optic nerve hemorrhages, hemorrhaging in her brain and other injuries.
