Liz Kilmer is an award-winning reporter who joined the WAVY-TV/FOX 43 news team in December 2015.
As a Philadelphia-area native, Liz is pleased to be working on the East Coast, especially so close to the beach!
Before moving to Hampton Roads, Liz was a reporter for WFMZ-TV in Reading, Pennsylvania. There, she had the opportunity to cover several high-profile corruption investigations, from the indictment of Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane to an alleged “pay-to-play” scheme among city officials in Reading and nearby Allentown. In 2014, she discussed a wrongful death case live before a nationwide audience on HLN. That case, involving a mother who died while in prison for her children’s truancy violations, has led to the introduction of a new state bill.
Liz’s work has been awarded by the Associated Press and recognized by The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. Her coverage of a destructive hailstorm was part of a newscast that received an Emmy nomination in the Mid-Atlantic chapter.
Prior to working at WFMZ, Liz was a Multimedia Journalist at WAND-TV in Central Illinois. There, she shot and edited her own stories while operating a bureau.
But Liz got her first taste of broadcast journalism while a student. She first interned at a radio station during a semester in London, and later with the FOX and CBS affiliates in Philadelphia. She received her bachelor’s degree Phi Beta Kappa, summa cum laude, in Media & Communication Studies from Ursinus College.
While not working, Liz is most likely serving in her other roles as: foodie, television show binge-watcher and social media news junky.
