PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – The Gloria Barron Prize recognizes young people across the country who are making a positive difference to people and our planet. Virginia Beach native and 18-year-old James Hemphill was one of this years winners of that award. He knew at a very early age what his passion in life was and exactly how he would give back. Today, he is a member of the Corps of Cadets at Virginia Tech and hopes to someday serve his country and get involved with greater environmental restoration projects.
