Norfolk police cruiser crashes into car while responding to suspicious incident

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A Norfolk police cruiser crashed into a car Wednesday while responding to a suspicious incident at a local middle school.

Police say the officers were responding to a call at Ruffner Middle School, near Tidewater Drive, around 1:43 p.m.

The police vehicle did not have lights or sirens on, and when they changed lanes into the school they hit a Hyundai.

Police say the officers were not injured, but the driver of the Hyundai went to the hospital as a precaution.

The suspicious incident at the school ended up being nothing, said police.

Police continue to investigate.
