Mike London hired by Maryland as assistant coach

(WAVY) — According to multiple reports, former University of Virginia head coach Mike London has been hired by new Maryland head coach D.J. Durkin to become the Terrapins associate head coach and defensive line coach.

London, who is from Hampton and graduated from Bethel High School, resigned as Cavaliers head coach after six seasons. During his tenure as Virginia head coach, the Cavaliers went to one bowl game.

While London never found the success on the field that he had hoped for, he is known as one of the top recruiters in the country.

Maryland, a member of the Big Ten, now has a person on the staff that can help recruit the Hampton Roads area, something London was very successful at while at UVA.
