Shots fired at bus on Interstate 264 in Virginia Beach

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — Virginia State Police are investigating reports of shots fired on I-264 in Virginia Beach early Monday morning.

Dispatchers started getting calls about the incident just before 1 a.m. Witnesses reported seeing shots fired from a white Kia.

Several hours later, State Police received an anonymous tip about an abandoned bus in the 600 block of Ivy Avenue, in Newport News. Troopers responded and found the vehicle, a 1981 TMC passenger bus, registered to the company “BLAQ.” Investigators examined the vehicle and discovered it had been shot. The bus also had damage consistent with being involved in a traffic crash, according to State Police spokeswoman Sgt. Michelle Anaya.

The tipster advised police that no one had been injured in the shooting.
