Crews respond to duplex fire in South Nags Head

SOUTH NAGS HEAD, N.C. (WAVY) – A fire damaged a duplex in South Nags Head Wednesday night.

The call came in for a fire in the 8900 block of South Old Oregon Inlet Road at 9:18 p.m. When crews arrived they found smoke and fire coming from the second and third floor.

Firefighters say a family staying in the duplex made it out safely and no one was injured.

It is believed the fire started around the fireplace, but it is unclear how it started.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
