Nearly 5,000 customers without power in Isle of Wight

ISLE OF WIGHT, Va. (WAVY) – Crews are working to restore power throughout the area from outages that happened Thursday morning.

Reports are that down wires at Cypress Creek Parkway and Fairway Drive and a pole fire caused the outages. Right now the cause of the down wires and the fire are under investigation.

At the height of the outage 4,855 customers lost power. Isle of Wight Courthouse, Smithfield High School, and Carrollton Elementary were among those affected.

Dominion Power expects to have power fully restored by 3 p.m.
