NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Chesapeake Police attempted to stop a Buick on I-64 and Greenbrier for speeding early Sunday morning.
When 36-year-old Kenneth Yates failed to stop the vehicle, then the pursuit began.
Police pursued Yates into Virginia Beach and continued to Norfolk down Military Highway, where he lost control of the vehicle and crossed into oncoming traffic.
Yates’ vehicle hit a Ford F-250 causing the Ford to roll over and strike a Jeep Cherokee. All three vehicles came to a halt at the 1200 block of Military Highway near Raby Road. The driver of the Ford F-250 was taken to the hospital for minor injuries.
Yates was arrested and transported to Norfolk General for minor injuries as well. Charges pending against Yates are for felony eluding, driving while revoked for DUI, speeding, and failure to stop at a red light.
