HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — Investigators need the public’s help identifying suspects in a shooting early Sunday morning that left 31-year-old James Frink of Hampton dead.
Officers responded to a call about shots fired around 2:30 a.m. in the 1800 block of West Mercury Boulevard, according to Hampton Police spokeswoman Officer Ashley Jenrette.
They found Frink with gunshot wounds lying in the parking lot of a Waffle House restaurant and rushed him to a local hospital, where he died of his injuries.
Although employees were inside the Waffle House at the time of the shooting, investigators could not say whether they saw it or had been helpful in identifying suspects, according to Jenrette.
Forensics teams were on the scene for more than six hours Sunday morning gathering evidence.
The motive behind the shooting, and the relationship between Frink and the suspects has not yet been determined, according to investigators.
Police ask anyone with information about the shooting to call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
