NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A male professor was pushed to the ground by a masked man in the middle of class Wednesday, according to a spokesman at Norfolk State University.

Stan Donaldson says the suspect stormed into the classroom inside Brown Hall at 5:14 p.m. Wednesday and immediately took off running.

The man was wearing a white mask and dark clothing. He was last seen heading eastbound towards West Cafe.

“I think it was maybe a student who was upset or something because if they were wearing a mask and would attack a professor it was something personal,” said Elysse Greenwood, a first year nursing student at NSU.

Donaldson say the professor was not injured.

A few hours later, police also responded to a report of an attempted robbery on campus.

Norfolk State University says campus police are reviewing security cameras inside and around Brown Hall and the campus to try and identify the suspect.

Anyone with information should contact NSU police at 757-823-8102 or 757–823-9000.
