Police locate missing baby and mother

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – Portsmouth detectives say they located a missing baby and mother at 7:40 a.m. on Tuesday in the City of Norfolk. Police say they found Eria Barnes and her son, Princeton Barnes, unharmed.

Police say that Eria Barnes has a charge for failing to obey a court order in relation to this incident. According to police, there is some confusion over the custody of the child because of a decision in another state. They said Eria Barnes is cooperating.

Detectives said she was visiting the baby boy Friday, November 6 at a home in the 20 block of Pollux Circle W, when she reportedly said no one could take her son from her, then she left the home with him.

No one had seen either of them after that time, but Barnes’ mother Bonnie Williams said she talked to her daughter Monday night. She said her daughter was upset, but she did not learn where she or the baby were.

Williams said she has custody of the baby and that Barnes was at her house when she left with the child.

“I got concerned Saturday morning and then I called the Portsmouth Police Department…Eria has some issues, some mental issues that has not been addressed…I just want Princeton back here…in a safe and stable environment and Eria needs to just do the right thing,” Williams said.
