Virginia Beach launches “Locktoberfest” Warrant Sweep

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va (WAVY) – The Virginia Police Department hosted their annual operation “Locktoberfest” on Tuesday and Wednesday this week.

The operation is a citywide multi-jurisdictional law enforcement warrant sweep that is led by the Virginia Beach Police Department’s Warrant and Fugitive Unit in effort to keep the Virginia Beach community a safer place. The goal of this project is to locate and apprehend people who are wanted on outstanding felony and misdemeanor warrants.

It was another successful project that had over 500 warrant service attempts made and approximately 100 people were caught and arrested. Just like in the years before, many wanted people surrendered on their own knowing that police were looking for them.

The Virginia Beach Police partnered up with different agencies including the Virginia Beach and Chesapeake Sheriff’s Offices, the Chesapeake, Norfolk, Portsmouth, and Suffolk Police Departments.
