ASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – One person was killed in a shooting on Tennessee State University’s campus late Thursday night.
It happened just before 11 p.m. in a courtyard outside the Floyd Building. Metro police said they think the shooting occurred after a dispute over a dice game.
The victim’s name hasn’t been released, but police said they believe he was a 19-year-old man who wasn’t a student at the university and might’ve participated in the fight.
The other three victims were female students who were walking by at the time, police said. Two of them were transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, while the third didn’t need treatment. One of the women has since been released while the other was listed in stable condition. Police said they expect her to recover.
Police didn’t immediately have a suspect description, but said several people recorded the incident on their cell phones. They encouraged them to call Metro police at 615-862-8600 or Crime Stoppers at 615-74-CRIME.
