2nd suspect arrested in SunTrust robbery

NEWPORT NEWS Va. (WAVY) — Police have arrested the second suspect wanted in the robbery of a Newport News SunTrust branch.

Police say 20-year-old Eric Tyrone Purvis Jr. was arrested Friday morning in Portsmouth. He was wanted for an armed robbery at the SunTrust located at 10814 Warwick Blvd. in Newport News.

Police say Purvis and 22-year-old Christopher Xavier Burley entered the business on Oct. 23 and demanded money. According to police, they were both wearing masks and were armed.

Authorities arrested Burley on Oct. 29. He was charged with robbery, entering a bank while armed, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, wearing a mask in certain places and two counts of conspiracy to commit a felony. Purvis was charged with robbery, entering a bank while armed, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, wearing a mask in certain places and two counts of conspiracy to commit a felony.

Police have not released booking photos for the suspects.
