Coast Guard medevacs teen near Cape Lookout, NC

CAPE LOOKOUT, N.C. (WAVY) — A 15-year-old girl was medevaced off of a sailboat south of Cape Lookout, North Carolina early Thursday morning.

The teen was showing signs of an allergic reaction aboard the Liberty Clipper around 4 a.m. according to North Carolina watchstanders.

The 125 foot boat was 20 miles south of Cape Lookout at the time.

A Lifeboat crew from Station Fort Macon with EMS aboard arrived at the vessel at 5:04 a.m. The teen and an adult were transferred to a Coast Guard boat where EMS provided care on the way to Station Fort Macon. The Coast Guard crew then transferred the teen for transport to Carteret General Hospital in Morehead City around 6 a.m.
