NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Three local men have been sentenced for a string of armed robberies in Hampton Roads.

According to the plea agreement, the men stole about $100,000 from stores that sold cell phones, including Radio Shack on Colley Avenue in Norfolk on Dec. 2, 2014; T-Mobile on Tidewater Drive in Norfolk on Dec. 7, 2014; and a T-Mobile store on Phoenix Drive in Virginia Beach on Jan. 1, 2015. During these robberies, the men entered the stores wearing masks and demanded employees at gunpoint to provide cash from the registers and cell phones.

Police say during the Virginia Beach robbery one of the men dropped one of their duffel bags, which contained stolen cell phones and a Greyhound bus ticket that had Edgar Brito’s name.

Brito was arrested and confessed to the crime, said police.

Edgar Brito, 21, of Virginia Beach and co-conspirator Darren Artis, 20, of Chesapeake were sentenced to more than 10 years in prison. Co-conspirator Alexander Horst, 23, of Virginia Beach, was sentenced to more than 9 years in prison.
