NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A motorcyclist seriously injured in a crash involving a train could face DUI charges, according to Norfolk Police.

According to the Norfolk Police Department Twitter account, the crash happened around 1:45 a.m. in the 7700 block of Granby Street near Wards Corner. Medics took the man to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, but police now say the man is expected to survive.

The train blocked several intersections while police investigated the crash.

Police say the railroad arms were down as the train was passing, but the motorcyclist didn’t see them and ran straight into the train car. Charges are pending the toxicology report.
