Woman killed in crash on Holland Rd. in Suffolk

SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – Police confirm a woman was killed in a crash in the 6200 block of Holland Road/Route 58 in Suffolk Friday morning.

Dispatchers received the first call at 6:25 a.m. alerting them of the accident.

Suffolk Police say a Mercedes SUV was exiting a gas station attempting to enter the westbound lanes, when the vehicle was struck on the driver’s side by an oncoming Jeep Wrangler, traveling eastbound. The woman driving the SUV, 63-year-old Clayretta Wilson, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Jeep was taken to Sentara Obici Hospital with injuries considered non life-threatening.

Traffic was alternated for approximately six hours while investigators worked to clear the scene.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
