Teenager injured during overnight shooting

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – Norfolk police say someone shot a 17-year-old boy overnight.

Detectives told 10 On Your Side’s Rico Bush, it happened around 1 a.m. Friday on Early Street near Robin Hood Road. That’s just a few blocks south of Sherwood Forest Elementary School.

Paramedics took the 17-year-old to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. Investigators say the victim’s injuries are not considered life-threatening.  Police have not said anything about a suspect or suspects.

Neighbors told Rico they heard at least three gunshots and what sounded like a woman screaming after someone fired those shots.  They also told us they saw a white security van in the area that disappeared shortly after the shooting.

Call the Crime Line if you know anything.
