Investigators determined a dark-colored SUV struck a man crossing the road at this intersection.

A witness to the crash told WAVY.com he heard the crash, then looked up and saw the man lying in the road. The witness also saw a jeep driving the other way.

“It was something to see,” said the man, who didn’t give his name. “Just to see somebody laying there…blood coming from their head.”

Images from the scene show medical personnel tending to a person in the roadway. The victim, a 57-year-old man, was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, according to Officer Leo Kosinski. The victim’s condition is not known.

Police later located the suspect, 25-year-old Marqueana Adams, and the vehicle.

Kosinski confirms the vehicle was located on Greer Street, about a quarter of a mile away from the scene. Kosinski would not confirm if Adams was also on Greer Street.

Adams was charged with felonious hit and run, fail to yield right of way to pedestrian at an intersection, suspended operators license 3rd offence, no insurance, no seat belt, fail restrain a child in a car seat and expired inspection.

“It could have been anybody just walking,” said the witness. “And to think someone would just keep moving like that. That’s just crazy.”
