LANSING, Mich. (WLNS/WOOD) — A cat that was found shot with a crossbow bolt is doing well, its caregivers say.

“Kitty,” whose real name is “Booger,” has made huge improvements. The Capital Area Humane Society says he is in “very good spirits” and has been upgraded to “excellent” status.

The cat’s owner found him in rural Eaton County on Monday with a crossbow bolt through his chest. Booger underwent surgery to have the bolt removed.

“We would like to thank everyone for their kindness, well wishes, and support,” the Humane Society posted on its Facebook page.

After contributions from two donors, there is now a $2,100 reward for information leading to an arrest in the case, the Humane Society said. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Eaton County Sheriff’s Office at 517.543.3512.
