UPDATE: Norfolk Police confirm that all lanes are now open.
NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Police closed the intersection of East Princess Anne Road and North Military Highway early Saturday morning, and advise drivers to avoid the area throughout the day as engineers work to repair damage caused by two car crashes.
10 On Your Side’s Joe Fisher reports that detour signs are not posted, and as a result, traffic is congested in the area as drivers try to figure out a way around the intersection.
The first crash happened just after 5:00 this morning, when a driver ran off the road and hit a traffic pole, according to Norfolk Police. The crash cut the pole in half, and caused hanging traffic signals to droop down.
As police were responding, another driver hit the low-hanging traffic signals. Norfolk Police say the intersection will remain closed indefinitely while traffic engineers work to repair the damaged pole and signals.
No one was hurt, and police have not yet confirmed whether either driver will face charges.
