NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Sentara says someone stole two portable hard drives containing patient information from operating rooms at the Heart Hospital.

It happened during the Aug. 14 weekend from two electrophysiology labs at Sentara Heart Hospital.

Sentara believes the hard drives were stolen for the street value — not for ID theft or fraud.

This weekend, Sentara notified the more than 1,000 patients affected by letter.

The information included your name, unique medical record number, date of birth, procedure date, diagnosis, procedure, surgeon and staff names, allergies, notes and medications that relate only to the procedure performed. The hard drives did not include your social security number, or billing information.”
