Hampton police investigating shooting on Homestead Avenue

HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — Hampton police are investigating a shooting after a gunshot victim walked into the hospital Friday afternoon.

Officers were called to the scene of the shooting in the 500 block of Homestead Avenue, around 1 p.m. While investigating at the scene, they were told a man suffering from a gunshot walked into the Sentara Careplex. He was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Police say the man was shot at the scene. The motive and circumstances remain under investigation, however, police say this incident has strong drug overtones.
