Teen pleads guilty to involuntary manslaughter in 2014 shooting

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — An 18-year-old pleaded guilty Monday to involuntary manslaughter in a deadly shooting.

The shooting happened December 2014 on Peregrine Street, near Town Center. According to court documents, Tyler King shot and killed Mariano Lacerna.

Prosecutors say King was among a group of people playing with a gun before the deadly shooting. King was 17 when police arrested him and charged him with second degree murder.

Prosecutors say King told another juvenile at the Juvenile Detention Center he didn’t think the gun was loaded when he pointed it at Lacerna.

King will be sentenced in January.
