Newport News man injured in drive-by shooting

HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) – A man was walking in the 400 block of Greenbriar Avenue Friday afternoon, when he became the victim of a drive-by shooting.

Hampton Police say they arrived on scene around 4:45 p.m. to find the 20-year-old Newport News man shot in the leg. He was taken to the hospital to be treated for his injury.

Investigators say there were several suspects in a late-model sedan, possibly an Acura, who drove up next to the victim and fired multiple shots.

The victim was hit by one of the bullets and an unoccupied Chrysler 3000 parked on the street was struck multiple times.
