Va. Beach teen indicted on additional charges

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — A grand jury indicted a local teen charged with shooting a police officer on additional robbery, weapons and abduction charges.

Police say 18-year-old Luis Vazquez tried to rob two women near a Boost Mobile on Wesleyan Drive in Virginia Beach back in May. According to investigators, he and 16-year-old Terrion Jones held a gun to someone’s head before running off.

There was a shootout between police and Vazquez shortly after. Vazquez was hit and arrested on scene.

Earlier this month, a grand jury indicted Vazquez on a charge of attempted capital murder of a law enforcement officer.

He’s due back in court in October.
