Police arrest man for Sunday stabbing in Norfolk

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – A Virginia Beach man is facing charges for an early morning stabbing near Old Dominion University.

Police were called to the 800 block of W. 48th Street around 1:45 a.m. Sunday, which is near the intersection of Colley Avenue. Residents at a home there told investigators they asked a man to leave earlier that morning, which he did, only to return and assault two men, stabbing one of them several times. The suspect ran from the scene, but ODU Police got a description of him and detained him less than a block away.

Detectives charged 19-year-old Donte Chesson with breaking and entering to commit a felony, brandishing a firearm, two counts malicious wounding and three counts conspiracy to commit a felony.

Police have not released the condition of the person who was stabbed.
