Motorcylist seriously injured in Granby Street crash

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A motorcyclist was taken to the hospital after losing control and crashing on Granby Street, Monday night.

Police arrived on scene around 7:15 p.m. to find the accident victim unconscious on the ground in the 4200 block of Granby Street. His injuries were reportedly serious, but not life-threatening.

Witnesses told police a black older model Mercedes SUV M-Class, merged into the motorcyclist’s lane, causing the rider to lose control and run into a pole. The black sedan did not stop.

The Granby Street bridge remained closed for several hours.

Detectives are investigating this incident and are asking anyone with information to contact the Norfolk Crime Line at 1-888-lock-u-up.
