Cyclist hit by car in Colonial Place seriously hurt

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A cyclist was seriously injured when he was hit by a car Monday morning in the Colonial Place neighborhood in Norfolk.

According to a press release from Norfolk Police, around 8:30 a.m. a woman driving a car south on Gosnold Avenue near Carolina Avenue hit a cyclist when he entered the roadway from a sidewalk.

The woman stayed on the scene, according to the release.

Medics took the man to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

No charges have been filed at this point, according to the release.

The 4100 block of Gosnold Ave and the 600 and 700 blocks of Carolina Avenue are closed while police investigate the accident.
