Water bottles sold in Target recalled

Thousands of Zak water bottles have been recalled due to a choking hazard. The bottles were sold exclusively at Target stores.

The recall covers about 178,000 26 ounce bottles. They come in a variety of colors and often have popular characters on them.

The inner plastic straw in the flip-top portion of the twist-off cap can break and become a choking hazard. Zak Designs has received nine incident reports, including reports of kids spitting out plastic pieces while using the water bottles. So far no injuries have been reported.

Check your cupboards: Mold number 14158 and “Zak Designs” are embossed on the bottom of the bottles. You might have bought one at a “back to college” promotion at Target stores in June or July. The bottles run about $10.

Contact Zak for a free replacement cap and straw.
