Man charged for assaulting Hampton police officers

HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) – Hampton Police arrested and charged a man after Thursday’s incident where two Hampton Police Officers were dragged following a traffic stop.

Trey Jackson, a 25-year-old Hampton man, faces two counts of assault and battery of a law enforcement officer, one count of obstruction, one count of driving revoked, and one count of speeding.

Thursday around 1 p.m. the two officers stopped Jackson on the 2000 block of N. Armistead Avenue. During the course of the investigation, officers determined the man had provided false information.

The officers attempted to remove the man from the vehicle and place him under arrest, but police say Jackson drove off, dragging both officers “a short distance.”

Jackson is in custody at the Hampton City jail.

The officers involved were treated for minor injuries and have been released from the hospital.
