Hampden-Sydney hands CNU a 24-9 loss

NEWPORT NEWS (WAVY) – Christopher Newport University will have to wait one more week for their 100th win in program history. In what was a low-scoring first-half, the Tigers (1-1) turned a 10-3 halftime lead into a 24-3 fourth-quarter lead and handed the Captains a 24-9 loss at Pomoco Stadium.

The Tigers were led by Kyree Koonce, who had touchdown runs of five yars, and 14 yards to go along with 89 yards on the night. As a team Hampden-Sydney rushed for 180 and held the Captains to just 52.

CNU will look for that 100th win next weekend when they travel to Dover, Delaware for their first road game against Wesley College.
