Portsmouth ATM mugging suspect arrested

Timothy S Jenkins

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Detectives have arrested a man accused of robbing someone at gunpoint at a Portsmouth ATM.

Timothy S. Jenkins, 24, was arrested Tuesday and charged with robbery, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, abduction and possession of a firearm by convicted felon.

Police say Jenkins approached a man near Gillis Road and Prospect Parkway on July 4 and demanded money. When the man said he had nothing on him, police say, Jenkins forced him to the nearby Neighborhood Market ATM to withdraw cash. The victim was not injured and Jenkins fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.
