VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — A grand jury indicted a local teen Tuesday for attempted capital murder and other crimes.

Investigators say 18-year-old Luis Vazquez from Virginia Beach tried to kill a police officer earlier this year.

Police say Vazquez and 16-year-old Terrion Jones tried to rob two women near a Boost Mobile on Wesleyan Drive back in May.

According to investigators, they held a gun to someone’s head and ran. The hostages were not harmed. Officers and Vazquez then got into a gunfight in an alley.

Vazquez was shot and police caught Jones several days later.

A grand jury will meet and discuss this case again later in September.
