VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – Ocean Lakes football coach Chris Scott will not be returning to the sidelines after Friday night’s game against Princess Anne. Scott’s suspension has been extended two more games.
Scott, who led the Dolphins to the Virginia 6A state championship last season, was suspended for the first three games of the season for inappropriate recruiting practices. He was only allowed to be with his team the first week of summer practice. In his place, assistant coach Chris Ramey has been in charge.
Ramey will continue to coach the team in Scott’s absence. In a letter sent to “Ocean Lakes Football Families” Monday, school principal Dr. Cheryl C. Askew wrote, “This action is necessary based on evidence that Mr. Scott has violated the terms of his initial suspension on more than one occasion. While this news may be personally upsetting to some of you, I trust that will rally around our players and remaining coaching staff.”
