No one found after reports of gunman on roof of Gloucester business

GLOUCESTER, Va. (WAVY) — 10 On Your Side has received several reports of residents saying an armed man was reported on the roof of a shopping center in Gloucester Tuesday evening.

WAVY.com reached out to the Gloucester Sheriff’s Office and confirmed deputies received a call of a possible gunman on the roof of the Dollar General at 6900 Main Street, around 8 p.m.

Deputies arrived and checked the building. They tell WAVY.com they found there was no way to access the roof so they called for a fire ladder. Once the ladder arrived, they went to check out the roof and found nobody or any signs that anyone had been there.

The businesses were briefly evacuated while authorities investigated. There were no reports of injuries and the scene was cleared around 9 p.m.
