CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) – The South Norfolk Jordan Bridge will be closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, so new overhead LED signs can be installed.
Drivers are encouraged to use the Gilmerton Bridge, High Rise Bridge or Downtown Tunnel (tolled) as alternate routes while the SNJB is closed – beginning at 7 p.m. August 25, until 5 a.m. August 26.
“The new, full-color display boards will allow us to communicate directly with our drivers and also offer promotional marketing opportunities for local businesses,” says General Manager Kevin Crum. “This brief traffic restriction is necessary to ensure the safety of all involved.”
If the installation takes longer than expected, Crum said an alternating and intermittent single lane closure may be activated during overnight travel hours Wednesday.
