Police searching for Shell gas station robbery suspect

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — Police in Newport News are looking for a man accused of robbing the Shell gas station on Warwick Boulevard.

Police say man entered the business located in the 9000 block of Warwick Boulevard, Sunday just before midnight. The clerk told officers the suspect was armed with a handgun and demanded money. She said after he got the money from the register he pointed the gun at her head and demanded the key to the safe. When she told the suspect she didn’t have access to the safe, he left.

There were no reported injuries.

The suspect is described as a black male, between 30-35 years old, with a slim build and about 5’10”-5’11” tall. He was last seen wearing dark clothing.

A woman believed to be on a motorcycle entered the Shell gas station during the robbery, and that person may be able to provide information to help police identify the suspect.
