Charge dropped against man accused of hitting boy with arrow

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — The charge against a man accused of shooting a bow and arrow that hit a child in Virginia Beach has been dropped.

Last month, 10 On Your Side’s Brandi Cummings reported about a woman’s petition asking city council to change the laws regarding the use of bows after a neighbor allegedly shot a bow and arrow in his front yard, aiming at a tree but missed.

The arrow went through the woman’s 7-year-old son’s arm. The incident happened in April.

The man received a misdemeanor summons, but last week a judge dismissed that charge after the man took a hunter’s safety course.

The little boy’s family says they are still upset about the incident and are continuing their petition to change the law.
