Suffolk police investigate alleged rape of 23-month-old

SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Suffolk police say they are investigating the alleged sexual assault of a 23-month-old girl.

According to a police report, the victim’s mother reported the possible rape on Wednesday, and an officer met her and the toddler at Sentara Obici Hospital.

The mother told police the incident happened between 10 a.m. Monday and 5 p.m. Tuesday. So far, the investigation indicates the child was possibly sexually assaulted by a known 17-year-old boy, according to Suffolk Police Department spokeswoman Diana Klink.

The child was transported to the Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters.

So far, no one has been arrested, but Klink said the investigation is ongoing.
