Newport News Mart clerk robbed at gunpoint

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — Police are investigating an armed robbery at the Newport News Mart.

Newport News police say a masked man entered the business located at 2217 Chestnut Avenue, Tuesday just after 11 p.m., pointed a handgun at the clerk, leaned over the counter and reached into the register to take money.

The suspect fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. There were no reported injuries.

The suspect is described as black male and was last seen wearing a black or blue T-shirt over a dark long sleeve shirt, black pants, gloves and a mask. The man pointed a handgun at the clerk, leaned over the counter and reached into the register to take money.
