HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — The first phase of a major multi-million dollar renovation is already underway at AMC Hampton Towne Centre 24.
The updates are part of AMC’s $600-million initiative to enhance the movie-going experience at AMC theaters across the country, said Ryan Noonan, director of corporate communications for AMC Entertainment, Inc.
AMC 24 is the first of the company’s theaters in Hampton Roads to be upgraded. When everything’s finished, the Hampton theater will have plush, power-reclining seats and new screens, speakers and sound systems. The building will get a new paint job, new carpets and renovated restrooms, too.
AMC is also considering adding a bar to the theater, called MacGuffins, where guests can order beer, wine or cocktails to sip during movie showings.
Construction should be complete later this year.
